| light bg Getting Started Do I need a referral? | No referral is needed to get started. If you are accessing funding through NDIS, Medicare, or an insurance scheme, a referral may be required — we can guide you through this. | How do I make an appointment? | You’re welcome to get in touch via email or phone to arrange an initial appointment. We’ll take a little time to understand your child and help you decide on the best next step. | What happens in the first session? | The first session is focused on understanding your child — their strengths, challenges, and what matters most to your family. From there, we’ll outline a clear, practical plan. | SPACER Funding & Fees Do you work with NDIS participants? | Yes. We work with children who are self-managed or plan-managed. We aim to ensure therapy is practical, purposeful, and aligned with your child’s goals. | Can I use private health insurance? | Many families are able to claim a portion of therapy through their extras cover. We recommend checking directly with your fund for occupational therapy coverage. | Is therapy covered by Medicare? | In some cases, yes. Your GP may provide access through a Chronic Disease Management Plan or Mental Health Care Plan. A paediatrician may also refer for allied health sessions that are partially covered by Medicare. We’re happy to guide you through whether this is appropriate. | SPACER Therapy Approach What ages do you see? | We work with children and adolescents across a broad age range — from early years through to teens. | What kinds of challenges do you support? | We support a range of areas, including: - Emotional regulation
- Attention and executive functioning
- School participation and learning
- Sensory processing differences
- Daily living skills
- Handwriting and written output
- Upper limb and hand function
- Complex or unclear developmental presentations
| Do you provide assessments? | Yes. We offer both targeted and comprehensive assessments, depending on your child’s needs. This may include functional assessments, school-based observations, and standardised tools where appropriate. | Do you work with schools and other professionals? | Yes — collaboration is a key part of our work. We regularly liaise with teachers, schools, paediatricians, and other therapists to support consistency and meaningful progress. | SPACER Practical Details Where are sessions held? | Sessions can take place: - In clinic (North Perth)
- At school or childcare
- At home (where appropriate)
- Via telehealth
| How often will my child need therapy? | This varies depending on your child and your goals. We aim for therapy to be purposeful and time-effective — not open-ended. | Do you have a waitlist? | We aim to keep wait times manageable and will always be transparent about availability when you enquire. | What makes Pollen+ different? | You will work directly with a highly experienced Occupational Therapist, with continuity of care throughout. Our approach is calm, practical, and tailored — particularly for children with more complex or less clear presentations. | My child doesn’t “fit a diagnosis” — can you still help? | Absolutely. Many of the children we see do not fit neatly into a category. We focus on understanding the whole child and what may be getting in the way of everyday life. | |
