| | Occupational Therapist | Founder, Pollen+Emma is a highly experienced paediatric Occupational Therapist with over 25 years of clinical practice across public and private settings in Perth and the United Kingdom. She works with children and adolescents whose needs are often complex, nuanced, or not easily explained — including challenges with emotional regulation, attention, executive functioning, and school participation. Emma is frequently sought out for her ability to bring clarity to these presentations and to support children who do not neatly fit standard pathways. Her approach is calm, considered, and grounded in deep clinical reasoning. Emma looks beyond surface behaviours to understand what is driving a child’s difficulties, and develops practical, individualised strategies that translate into everyday life — at home, at school, and in the community. She works collaboratively with families, schools, and other professionals to ensure support is consistent, realistic, and meaningful. Alongside her clinical experience, Emma brings lived experience of neurodivergence and hypermobility, both personally and as a parent. This informs a deeply empathetic and practical approach, while remaining grounded in clinical expertise. Emma holds a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from Curtin University and has worked extensively in paediatric and specialist hospital settings, including Princess Margaret Hospital. She is an Accredited Hand Therapist and a Circle of Security Facilitator, with additional training in attachment, emotional regulation, and neurodivergent-affirming approaches. Services are available in clinic, school, home, and via telehealth. |
Over the years, our focus on long-term outcomes has led to our OTs adopting a more methodical, gradual pace in our therapy. Since our founding, Emma has been adamant that we take the time to sit down with each child, their family and parents to learn about their strengths, interests, and what they consider playful and fun.
This meant that in some cases, our therapeutic journey was longer. But it’s a journey that is collaborative, overseen in an adaptive environment to improve independence, and family-centred to achieve goals that matter to the individual and the family. We believe this is far more effective than simply adhering to a clinical checklist.
